Hemp flower with THC, and hemp flower with none: what the numbers really say
By The shop counterSet
The short of it. Every hemp flower has some THC. The question is how much, and the answer is on the lab report, not the label. Hemp flower bred for CBD has a little. High-THCA hemp flower, which is what this shop sells, has a great deal once you light it: it gets you high, and it shows up on THC drug tests.
Set Oct. 4, 2026.
☞ Three numbers on a lab report
| Line | What it is | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Delta-9 THC | THC already in the bud | The only number the federal hemp test counts until Dec. 11, 2026 |
| THCA | The acid form of THC, the bulk of it in fresh flower | Turns into THC when heated |
| Total THC | Delta-9 THC + 0.877 × THCA | What you actually smoke; the federal test from Dec. 11, 2026 |
The 0.877 is chemistry. When heat strips THCA of its carboxyl group, the molecule loses about 12 percent of its weight, so each gram of THCA yields about 0.877 grams of THC. The USDA’s hemp rule writes the same formula (7 CFR 990.1).
☞ Hemp flower with THC: two worked examples
| Lot | Delta-9 | THCA | Total THC |
|---|---|---|---|
| A CBD-type hemp lot | 0.10% | 0.20% | 0.10 + 0.877 × 0.20 = 0.28% |
| A high-THCA hemp lot | 0.25% | 22.0% | 0.25 + 0.877 × 22.0 = 19.5% |
Both lots pass today’s delta-9 test. Only the first would pass the total-THC test that starts on Dec. 11, 2026. The second is the kind of flower on our menu.
☞ Hemp flower with no THC does not exist
People search for “hemp flower no THC” hoping for flower that is safe for a drug test or free of any high. There is no such flower:
- Plants bred for CBD still make some THCA and delta-9 THC. A plant’s leaning toward CBDA or THCA is set largely by its genes, and CBD-type plants typically still carry a trace of THCA (de Meijer and colleagues, 2003).
- The legal limit is a ceiling of 0.3 percent, not zero.
- A drug test looks for THC and what the body makes of it. It does not care what the bag called the flower.
If you need flower with as little THC as possible, buy CBD-type hemp flower and read the total THC line, which should be well under 0.3%. This shop does not sell that today.
☞ Does hemp flower get you high?
High-THCA hemp flower does. Raw THCA does not itself produce a high, but smoking, vaporizing and baking convert it to THC quickly (Moreno-Sanz, 2016). A bud at 20% THCA smokes like a bud at about 17.5% THC.
So read “hemp” as a legal category. It tells you the lot passed a test on one number. It does not tell you the flower is mild.
☞ What is in our packets
Every packet here is high-THCA hemp flower, greenhouse or light-dep. It gets you high when smoked and will show up on THC drug tests. Each packet’s THCA percentage is shown when its Batch’s lab values are on file, and the full report is available on request otherwise (Lab reports).
☞ The law changes on December 11, 2026
From that date, federal law measures hemp by total THC, THCA included (Public Law 119-37, Sec. 781; the Dec. 11 date for flower is in H.R. 6500, Sec. 2019). High-THCA flower stops being hemp. This shop then sells only flower at or under 0.3% total THC, which will hold far less THC than today’s menu.
State law can be stricter than federal law, and in several states smokable hemp flower or high-THCA flower is already banned. Check yours before ordering.

Questions, answered
Does hemp flower have THC?
Yes, all of it has some. Hemp flower bred for CBD holds a little. High-THCA hemp flower holds a lot once heated: a bud at 20% THCA yields roughly 17.5% THC when smoked.
Is there hemp flower with no THC?
No flower is THC-free. Even plants bred for CBD make some THCA and delta-9 THC. Compliant hemp is capped at 0.3%, which is low, not zero, and it can still show up on a drug test.
Can hemp flower get you high?
High-THCA hemp flower can and does. Heat turns THCA into THC. Every packet on this shop's menu is high-THCA hemp flower and gets you high.
Why does high-THCA flower count as hemp?
Until Dec. 11, 2026, the federal definition counts only delta-9 THC, not THCA. From that date it counts total THC, THCA included, and high-THCA flower no longer qualifies.
